Together with an Introduction, containing An Historical Account of the State of Paganism under the First Christian Emperors.' Bound in full leather with 5 raised bands to the spine. Elaborate blind stamp tooling to spine with some traces of gilt decoration in places - somewhat faded. Lacking title band. Corners bumped. Boards rubbed and worn. Hinges split - outer hinges cracked. Front board in only attached at the top half. Internally the binding is fairly tight. Contents generally clean and bright with some light browning to page edges/margins. Engraved frontispiece depicting the Concilium Nicaenum. A list of names has been written neatly in ink to the verso of the title page. All edge marble although the page edges are lightly browned and the marble pattern has faded in places. We offer a book binding and restoration service. Images available on request.
