Masque of the Red Death 1964 Film Poster

Illustrated By: Reynold Brown

This is a 27" x 41" US one-sheet poster designed by Reynold Brown for the 1964 Roger Corman film The Masque of the Red Death based on an 1842 story by Edgar Allan Poe. The screenplay was by Charles Beaumont and R. Wright Campbell and it starred Vincent Price as Prince Prospero.  Based on the classic horror short story by Edgar Allan Poe, the story centres around a plague like disease known as the red death that is devastating the population. A prince who worships evil is played by Price and he hosts a party at his castle in its magnificent different coloured rooms. At the ball a guest arrived dressed in a red cloak and is believed to be Satan himself. "Look into this face – Shudder at the blood-stained dance of the Red Death!” Very rare: numbered 64/229 in pen to front and with a fading blue stamp to rear. Minor bleed-through of stamp to front of poster. Crease-lines where it has been folded into eighths for storage. Two small closed tears of approximately 4cm and 1cm to side and top of poster respectively. Overall good condition for such a rare find.
