With Winston Churchill at The Front

Captain X. (Captain Andrew Dewar Gibb)

Edition: First Edition

Published By: Gowans and Gray, Ltd.

First edition softback in publisher's original printed pictorial paper boards. Photographic frontispiece printed on smooth paper. Some scuffing to cover, particularly over hinge, and a few toned marks, however this is remarkably well preserved considering its age and format. No ffep - opens to half title. Light spotting to half title, then infrequently throughout. Pages are bright and clean. Overall very good condition. 111 pp. Captain Andrew Dewar Gibb (1888-1974) wrote this book under the pseudonym Captain X about his time serving in the Royal Scotts Fusiliers, fighting at the Battle of Loos and on the Ypres Salient, where he was adjutant to Winston Churchill. He went on to become a founding member of the Scottish National Party. This delicate first edition is exceedingly rare, with just two appearances recorded at auction and no other copies on the market. An excellent example of this interesting and rare book.
