Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 1st Edition

J. K. Rowling

Edition: First Edition

Illustrated By: Cliff Wright

Published By: Bloomsbury

A pristine example of the true first edition, first impression in softback of the first Harry Potter book. Original pictorial covers designed by Cliff Wright depicting Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Express on the front, with the 'young wizard' to the spine and rear. Wendy Cooling's review to the lower front cover, and mis-spelling of 'philospher's' to rear cover. Number line displaying 10-1 on the copyright page, '1 wand' repeated on page 53. Just a touch of shelf wear to the fore edge and lower edges, minor lifting to lower front corner, small indent to rear cover without abrasion. Toning to the page edges as is common in this edition, although it is light and uniform. Pages remain clean and bright. 223 pp. Overall near fine condition, certainly one of the most sharp examples we have come across. One of just 5015 copies produced, the true first edition of this book has become increasingly difficult to find in good condition. With the hardback version now fetching values around £100,000 this scarce book is sought after indeed and held in esteem with other iconic pieces of children's literature such as Alice in Wonderland and The Hobbit. This is the finest copy of the paperback we have seen.
