Undated, circa 1850s according to Worldcat and only two copies recorded in institutions, this is a rare first edition. Hardback bound in what appears to be original black half leather with marbled boards. Gilt bands and lettering to spine. Ink inscription to ffep dated 1854. Binding quite rubbed to edges with scuffs to leather and scuffed spots to marbling. Small spot of residue to front board. Cracking to gutter, text block lifting away from binding and split to centre but still holding. Book has flaws but still presents as quite smart and compact. iv + 188 pp. An intriguing and scarce book, collectable. From the library of a Beeton descendant.
