Reprint of The Essays of Elia, awarded to a student from Christ's College, Finchley in 1898. Bound in vellum, with buckram boards. The cover is in good condition although yellowing slightly and some shelf wear can be seen on the buckram on front cover. Gilt on the front cover is still bright, and gilt on all edges is slightly worn although still bright. Small amount of foxing at front and rear of book, but generally in very good condition. Large note on ffep to award the book to a student at the College. pp. xxvi +425.
