Undated presumed first edition. Original green cloth boards with small pictorial to the front and titles to the spine. In overall good condition despite a minor blemish to the rear. Spine very lightly sunned with a little wear to the top and base. Binding is weak with title page and frontispiece partly detached and page 11 loose, page 5/6 missing. Previous owners' ink signature and date 12,1.03 to the front free endpaper. Pages lightly toned although clean throughout and beautifully illustrated and written by Helen Bannerman. pp. 143. A lovely little copy. Helen Bannerman was a Scottish author who married Dr William Burney Bannerman a physician and officer in the Indian Medical Service. Her inspiration for her books came from her love of India and it's people.
