First Edition Hard Back. With inscription from James Hancock dated 1-7-83 to the half title page. Beautifully illustrated dust jacket in a very good clean condition and with very little wear, minor fading to the base of the spine. Original olive green cloth boards with bright gilt titles to the spine in excellent condition although with a little creasing to the base of the spine. Still in the original slip case however this is worn with a closed tear along the spine. Beautifully illustrated with full page colour illustrations and many black and white line drawings throughout. pp. 304. A stunning copy. Researched with meticulous care, the illustrations are often able to provide a visual hint of the birds' favoured habitats.
