Hard Back. 1849 First Edition. Beautifully bound in full blue cloth which has been re-backed onto new. Ornate embossed detail to the front and rear boards with gilt titles to the spine. The boards do show a little surface wear with minor bumping to the corners, slight crease to the top right hand corner on volume one. The spines have faded with a little off-setting to the front and rear. Slight lean to the spines. Yellow endpapers with some paper residue, full page advertisement pasted onto the front free endpaper of volume one. Internally the pages are generally clean despite heavy foxing to the prelims and towards the rear. Volume I, xxxiv + 501 +4 + 8. with one folding copy of a letter. Volume II, 668 + 8. with one folding "distribution of the enemy's forces" and one copy of a letter. Both volumes have frontispieces and volume one has an additional notice piece. Overall a good set of a scarce title.
