Being an account of a journey across the continent from Benguella on the West through Bihe, Ganguella, Barotse, The Kalihari Desert, Mashonland, Manica, Gorongoza, Nyasa, The Shire Highlands, to the mouth of the Zambesi on the East Coast. First Edition Hard Back. Original brown cloth boards with pictorial in black to the front and gilt titles to the spine. The boards are in good condition with hardly any wear and no loss although there is a little fading along the top edge of the front board. The spine has slightly darkened with minor shelf wear to the top and base. Slight cracking to the internal hinge however the binding remains fairly tight. Previous owners' inscription to the front paste down. The folding map to the rear is intact although there is s closed tear to the left hand side. There is a little foxing and stain to the frontispiece otherwise a good clean copy. With fifty-one full page photogravure illustrations from photographs by the author and map indicating route travelled. pp. 353. Overall a good copy.
