Hard Back, Published 2006. The Universal Marine Dictionary was originally compiled by William Falconer and published in 1769, at a time when the author was preparing to go to sea. It has been revised and republished several times since and eventually in 1815 an almost entirely new edition was produced by William Burney, a naval antiquarian. Illustrated dust jacket is clean and bright although with some wear and creasing along the top edge. Not price clipped. Original orange cloth boards with slight creasing to the corners however in good condition with very little wear. Very light mark to the fore-edge of the text block otherwise free of any further marks. Pages appear unread with no inscriptions or foxing. Overall a very good copy. pp. xv + 707 + 87 + plates.
