Hard Back, no date presumed first edition, 1858. Bound in the publishers' original dark blue cloth with the upper boards blocked and printed in black in a decorative arabesque style, the lower boards are blind embossed. Gilt titles and decorative borders to the spines with a small gilt vignette. The boards are generally clean and in good condition despite some discolouration to the rear of volumes II & III. The spines have darkened with a little shelf wear to the top and wear and discolouration to the bases. WH Smith library blind stamp to the front free endpaper of volume I, despite the very occasional spot of foxing and occasional darkening to the edges the pages are clean throughout. Volume I, pp. 328. Volume II, pp. 304. Volume III, pp. 328. A beautiful and scarce set.
