First Edition of this much loved fairy tale. Beautifully illustrated paper-covered boards with cloth spine in good condition despite a little edge wear. Internally the binding is tight with green pictorial endpapers, two previous owner's neat inscriptions to the verso of the front free endpaper. There is the very occasional spot of foxing otherwise the pages are clean. Page 28 has a small closed tear to the fore-edge which has been repaired with a little tape. Illustrated with a full page tipped-in colour plate, complete with its tissue guard. The title page and frontispiece are bordered with decorative figures from Cinderella. The tissue guard is a little toned. There are further illustrations in silhouette throughout the text including five which are double page. pp. 110. Overall a beautiful copy retold by C.S. Evans.
