A lovely first edition copy of this classic fairy tale. Beautifully illustrated paper covered boards with cloth spine in good condition despite a little edge wear. Internally the binding is tight and the front and rear endpapers are free of any marks or previous owner's inscriptions. Beautifully illustrated title page and frontispiece with a tipped-in colour plate to the first chapter. There are several more illustrations in silhouette including seven double-page. The colour plate has a small piece missing to the corner. There is the very occasional spot of foxing although the pages are generally very clean. pp. 110. Overall a good copy retold by C.S Evans and beautifully illustrated by Arthur Rackham.
