First Edition Hardback. Handsomely bound in green cloth with ornate gilt decoration to the top of the front board and gilt titles and decoration to the spine. The cloth has faded over time with some discolouration and the gilt has slightly dulled. The top edge of the text block is gilt and is still fairly bright. Internally the binding is tight with a previous owner's inscription to the front free endpaper. The pages show the occasional spot of foxing however they are generally clean, illustrated with black and white photographic plates. pp. xx + 448 + publisher's list. Overall a good reading copy of Stuart Dodgson Collingwood biography of his Uncle Lewis Carroll.
