First Edition Hardback. Handsomely bound in deep green cloth with gilt titles to the spine. The binding is in good condition despite a little bumping to the corners. and shelf wear to the top and base of the spine. Minor discolouration along the fore-edge of the front board. The binding is a little weak with cracking to the internal hinges. There is a previous owner's small ink signature to the top of the title page. Foxing to the prelims and towards the rear however the pages are generally very clean. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece of George Elwes Corrie complete with a foxed tissue guard. This copy has several extra ephemera bound in including, a compliments slip from the publisher's, original letters between pages 316 and 317, two letter to the rear together with an envelope containing a photograph of Corrie and a photograph to the rear paste down. pp. xii + 365. Overall a good copy. George Elwes Corrie was an English churchman and academic, Master of Jesus College Cambridge.
