A classic Beeton book with unusually ornate boards and embossed floral patterning to the front as well a bright gilt title panel to the centre, also with floral gilt border. Patterning continued on the spine, a little faded. Stunning gilt text block complementing the front design. Pages notably clean, with hardly any foxing, and many illustrations alongside the text. Full colour foldout depicting party games makes a striking frontispiece. Endpapers a little grubby with a tiny previous bookseller sticker. Cracking to one of the joints although generally a tight binding. pp.149. Fair to good. c.1860s.
