Hardback. Beautifully bound in rich green leather with gilt and blind embossed decoration to the front. Ornate gilt decoration to the spine and blind embossed decoration to the rear. The leather is in good condition despite a little surface wear to the front. The spine is a little faded. All edges of the text block gilt and a little dulled along the top edge although the fore edge remains bright. Internally the binding is tight. The rich green endpapers are free of any bookplates or inscriptions. The pages are generally clean throughout although there is some heavy foxing to the prelims and occasionally throughout. The frontispiece and half title page are beautifully illustrated with further illustrations throughout, each page of text encased in a red-lined border pp. xlviii + 432. Overall a stunning copy.
