Hard back. Both front and rear boards are worn around the extremities and slightly foxed. The front retains a lovely small pictorial design. The spine is a little faded, with particular wear to the top and bottom edges, but the title remains clear. Internally, the pages are slightly faded, with some slight marks throughout, but the text remains very readable. The publication details note that the wartime publication may have reduced the quality of the paper, owing to the need to conserve materials. pp. 208. Overall, a very good copy of an account of life on the SS Booker T. Washington, unique in its 1945 publication date, that only elevates its fascinating perspective.
