Hard back. The red front and rear boards show very little sign of wear, only with some very slight wear to the extremities and along the bottom edge. The spine retains its colour well, with wear along both the bottom and top edge, but the gold gilt text remains very bright. The top edge of the pages has a red colour, and the fore and bottom edges of the pages are slightly foxed. Internally, the front end pages have a small pencil inscription from a previous owner, as well as some very slight toning. The text is very readable throughout. pp. xliii + 84. Overall, a very good copy of the original Latin text of William Malmesbury's 1142 Historia Novella, with a side-by-side English translation.
