Hard back. The front and rear boards are in a very good condition, only with some very slight wear to the extremities. The gold gilt text on the front board remains very bright. The spine is slightly worn down the top of the front edge, but the gilt text remains clean. Internally, there is a small pencil inscription belonging to a previous owner in the front end papers. The pages and diagrams are clean throughout. pp. viii + 54. Overall, a very good copy of a facsimile reproduction of the 1859 original account of Leicester Castle, providing an interesting historical piece that captures a romantic approach towards archaeology unique to the nineteenth century.
