The front and rear of the jacket retain their bright pictorial design, the front has a large tear in the centre, and there is a small tear to the top edge of the rear too, beyond this, there is only very minor wear to the extremities. The spine is rather faded, and shows some sign of wear, especially along the top and bottom edges. Internally, the front and rear end papers are clean. The title page is signed by the author. The text and numerous illustrations throughout are clear. pp. 410. Overall, a good copy of a fascinating survey of naval engagements in the American South during the Civil War
