Hard back. The front board is in a very good condition, showing only a few marks and some very slight wear to the extremities. The rear is a little more worn, especially along the lower edge. The spine is rather worn, and the gold gilt text, whilst a little scratched, remains bright. The pages are a little worn along the fore edge. Internally, there is a small sticker belonging to a previous bookseller on the verso of the front board, and there are two small pencil and ink inscriptions on the front free end papers belonging to previous owners. The pages are clean and readable throughout. pp. xviii + 399. Overall, a very good copy of a collection of essays, mainly concerning the manors of St. Albans, including a number of illustrated plates, and a detailed map of the manors of the Liberty of St Albans.
