Hardback. Quarter bound in brown cloth with pretty pictorial paper covered front board. The spine and boards are in good condition with hardly any wear although a little discoloured in places. Internally the binding is tight and free of any inscriptions or bookplates. There is the occasional spot of foxing throughout with thumb marks on the half-title page, however, the pages are generally very clean. The pictorial endpapers are toned. Beautifully illustrated with 16 full-page colour plates and charming head and tale vignettes to each chapter by J. Hancock. The plates are unaffected by any foxing and are complete with no tears or creases. pp. xiii + 234 + 2. Overall a charming copy. A tale of the time when fairies were plentiful in England.
