Hardback. New Edition. Handsomely bound in rich green leather with ornate gilt tooling and raised bands to the spines. The boards are decorated with four gilt ruled borders with gilt floral decals to each corner with a further embellishment of a name in gilt to one corner. The leather shows a little wear to the extremities with darkening to the spines, however, it is generally in very good condition. All edges of the text block are gilt and still bright with red marbled endpapers and gilt dentelles to the pastedowns. There is a previous owner's ink inscription to the verso of the half-title page to volume one. Foxing to the prelims and towards the rear of both volumes, the pages, however, are generally clean throughout. Overall a superb set. Would make an ideal gift.
