Smart, green full calf leather prize binding with an academic symbol in gilt embossed to the front. Floral gilt motifs to the spine with the title offset on a burgundy panel. Gilt text block and tooling to inner and outer edges particularly magnificent due to retained brightness and impressive clarity. Pages clean, sharp with light foxing and 180 lovely photographic illustrations by Cherry Kearton. Bookplate dated 1912 on emerald marbled endpapers. Spine a little discoloured, but very tight binding. pp.xvi+358. Very good.
