A King's Story The Memoirs Of The Duke Of Windsor Signed By Edward VIII

The Duke Of Windsor

Edition: First US Edition

Published By: G.P. Putnam's Sons

Hardback. First US Edition. With inscription to the half title page "To Kenneth Harris with best wishes from Edward" March 1969. David Kenneth Harris was a British journalist who's 1970 interview with the Duke of Windsor was the last before the Dukes death in 1972. The inscription is a little shaky but The Dukes Of Windsor's health from the 1960's was deteriorating. Handsomely bound in black cloth with Edward's coat of arms and facsimile signature in gilt to the front. Red and blue title bands to the spines. In good condition despite a little bumping to the corners and lower edge, light fading to the spine. Internally the binding is tight. There are a few pencil lines to the margins of the text as well as notation in pen and pencil to the rear of the book. The pages, otherwise are clean throughout. pp. xi + 435. A remarkable book. The work is dedicated to Wallis Simpson and is a memoir of Edward's life and the abdication crisis. A King's Story, was the first book by a British Monarch since 1688, other than Queen Victoria's journals.
