A highly sought-after pocket edition set beautifully illustrated by C.E. & H.M. Brock. Edited by Reginald Brimley Johnson. Comprising of the following titles; Sense and Sensibility two volumes, fifth edition, 1906. Pride and Prejudice two volumes, sixth edition, 1905. Mansfield Park two volumes, fourth edition, 1906. Emma two volumes, sixth edition, 1907. Northanger Abbey, fifth edition, 1904 and Persuasion, fifth edition, 1906. Beautifully bound in pale green cloth with dark green printed pictorial detail and gilt titles to the front. The cloth is clean and bright with very little wear or fading. There is a touch of discolouration to volume II of Sense and to the rear of volume I of Emma with light wear to the top and base of the spines. The top edge of the text block is gilt and slightly dulled while the fore-edge remains un-trimmed. There is a small previous bookseller label to the front pastedown, however the decorative endpapers remain free of any bookplates or inscriptions. The bindings are still fairly tight. The pages are clean with just the occasional light foxing. Each with their original ribbon bookmark. Beautifully illustrated with full-page colour plates to each volume. A lovely set in overall good condition, ideal as a gift for any fan of Jane Austen.
