A particularly impressive tome with lovely gilt details. To the front a bordering of double ruled lines and floral garlands, the spine also shows raised bands dividing six panels intricately decorated and offsetting the title. All edges of the text block are gilt, still sharp and bright. Very nice deep red marbled endpapers with further floral gilt decoration. Many illustrations by George Cruikshank, John Leech, and John Tenniel to clean pages despite foxing. Neat inscription dated 1873. A very cool full page frontispiece depicting a dressed up skeleton. Rubbing to the extremities. pp.xiv+513. Good. Would make an ideal gift.
