First Edition Hardback. Translated from the Italian by J.E.C. Eaton. Handsomely bound in the publisher's original burgundy cloth with gilt titles and pictorial to the front, gilt titles to the spine. The binding is in good condition although faded in places especailly to the spine and extremities. The top edge of the text block is gilt while the fore edge is untrimmed. Internaly the text block is tight with no loose pages. There is some foxing throughout although the text is still legible, with seventy six illustrations, all present. pp. 238. Overall a good copy.
