First Edition Hardback. Handsomely bound in rich green cloth with bright gilt titles within a gilt border to the front and gilt titles to the spine. The binding is in overall good condition with the cloth remaining clean and quite bright despite minor surface wear and a little fading to the spine. The top edge of the text block is gilt and remains quite bright while the fore edge is foxed. There is a previous owner's small neat pencil signature to the front free endpaper. There is foxing throughout, with some pages heavier than others however the text is still legible and the pages complete with no tears or pieces missing. Illustrated with several black and white photographic plates and diagrams within the text. pp. 384. Overall a good copy.
