Hardback. Handsome presentation copy bound in rich tan leather with decorative gilt borders and school coat of arms to the front. The spine has five raised bands in bewteen gilt decorative tooling and a title band. The leather shows minimal wear, however, the spine has lightly faded with a little off-setting to the front and rear. All edges of the text block and endpapers are marble with a presentation label to the front paste down. The text block is tight with no loose pages. There is foxing throughout, however the pages are legible and generally in good condition. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Dr Johnson and several photographic plates throughout. pp. xiv + 428. Overall a good copy.
