Hardback First Edition. Handsomely rebound in half tan leather with marble paper covered boards. The binding is in very good condition with no wear or fading, gilt titles to the spine still bright. There is a previous owner's ink inscritpion dated 12th April 1879 to one of the prelims and a small signature to the top of the title page. These pages have a small piece missing along the top right hand corner. The rest of the pages are lightly toned, as expected, although clean. viii + 110. Overall a very good copy. Abraham de Moivre was a french mathematician known for de Moivre's formula, a formula that links complex numbers and trigonometry, and for his work on the normal distrubution and probaliltiy theory.
