Hardback with introduction by Devendra P. Varma and wood-engravings by Sarah van Niekerk. All six volumes are handsomely bound in quarter black cloth with burgundy patterned boards and housed in a red slip case. The binding is in very good condition with just a little fading to the gilt on one volume. The slip case has a small closed tear to the top front edge, however, it is free of any marks or further tears. The pages within are clean and bright with an amazing wood-cut frontispiece design by Sarah van Neikerk. The stories including are; The Italian, The Romance Of The Forest, The Mysteries of Udolpho, The Castles of Athlin and Dunbayne, Gaston de Blondeville and A Sicilian Romance. Overall a superb set. Would make an ideal gift. This set is heavy and may require extra shipping.
