Hardback. First Edition. Handsomely rebacked in full leather with decorative embossed border to the front and rear boards, four raised bands and red title band to the spine. The leather is a little rubbed and worn with loss to the extremities and slight discolouration to the rear with the gilt to the title band faded. Internally the text block is tight although page 63 is a little loose. There is a previous owner's bookplate and pencil inscription to the front paste down and a small piece missing to the lower right hand corner of page 1. The rest of the pages although slightly toned, consistent with the books age, are clean and in good condition. Folding plan of "General State of Account.. " present and intact. There are numerous corrections throughout the book, thought to be by the hand of Samuel Pepys. pp. Frontispiece + title page + 214 + 17. Overall a remarkable book.
