Hardback. Beautifully bound in half deep red leather with red marble paper covered boards, gilt titles and raised bands to the spine. The leather is in a very good clean condtion with just light wear to the corners. Mild surface wear to the boards. All edges are gilt and still bright. Marbled endpapers with a previous owner's ex-libris label to the front paste down. The binding is tight with no loose pages. Mild foxing especially to the prelims and towards the rear otherwise a good clean copy with sixteen full page illustrations and one map by the author. pp. xiv + 403. Overall a very good copy.
