All eight volumes are uniformly bound in half rich green leather with rich green cloth boards. All are in good condition despite a little rubbing and wear and light fading to the spines. Internally there is an ex-libris label to the front paste down. All bindings are tight, with no loose pages, despite a little cracking to the internal hinges of volumes one and four. The pages are toned with the occasional spot of foxing otherwise very clean and in good condition. Illustrated with numerous engravings from the most authentic sources. Overall a good set, Walter Thornbury's narrative history of London, nicely illustrated and full of insightful reflections on a city that has changed so much.
