Hardback. Bound in the publisher's original deep purple cloth with black printed detail and titles to the front, ornate decoration to the spine. The illustrations within are by George Cruickshank. The binding has dulled with discolouration to the rear and fading to the spine. The cloth has slightly split along the top edge and a little down the rear external hinge of the spine. Internally the binding is still fairly tight although the frontispiece is loose. There is a previous owner's inscription dated 1908 to the front free endpaper. The rest of the pages are fairly clean throughout with just the very occasional spot of foxing. pp. vi + 320 + 8. Overall a lovely copy, scarce in this edition.
