Hardback. First Edition. Bound in the publisher's original rich brown cloth with printed titles and a map to the front, printed titles to the spine. The binding has worn in places and is discoloured especially to the rear, faded spine. Internally the text block is still tight with no loose pages. Previous owner's neat inscription to the front free endpaper. Ink stamp to the top of the title page. The rest of the pages, although lightly toned with the very occasional spot of foxing and thumb mark are very clean throughout. Illustrated with several photographic images and maps and two folding maps to the rear. The folding maps are a little curled to the edges but present and intact. pp. xiv + 373. Sir James McCrone Douie was a British colonial official who served briefly as Lieutenant Governer of Punjab . At the end of 1876 he arrived in India where all of his service of 35 years was passed in the Punjab. Overall a good copy of a scarce title.
