Dedicated to Mendelssohn's god-son, Felix Moscheles, a traditional biography of the British painter Thomas Gainsborough. Full leather prize binding with lovely gilt roses to the spine and a school crest to the front accentuated by a gilt border. Marbling to all edges of the text block faded in contrast to the endpaper marbling. Prize bookplate dated 1923. Leather inner edge has impressed on the front and rear free endpapers. Illustrated with 20 plates and a photogravure frontispiece, elegant border to the title page. pp.xvi+233. Very good, a curious volume.
