Hardback. Fifth edition of the first ever Vanity Fair volume. Disbound copy, however the contents are still in the original publisher's green cloth boards. Gilt decorative border with gilt titles to the front, bevelled edges, and gilt titles to the spine. There is a little fading to the boards with fraying to the top and base of the spine. All edges gilt. A complete collection of 48 chromolithographic plates featuring Statesmen, Judges and Men of the Day, and one woman !. Neat pencil inscription to the verso of the title page. All plates are present and in good condition with just the occasional thumb mark and spot of foxing to the rest of the pages. Disbound copy so pages are loose. A fascinating copy with adverts of the time at the beginning of the book.
