Hardback . First Edition. A beautifully illustrated source of reference intended as an easy to use gardening manual. At the time, all articles were written at a level for those already in the field. Handsomely bound in the publisher's rich green leather with marble paper covered boards and ornate gilt decoration to the spine. The leather is worn with a little surface wear to the boards. Internally the binding is tight with no loose pages, despite cracking to the gutter. Bookplate to the front paste-down with pencil signature to one of the prelims. The rest of the pages are clean throughout despite the very occasional spot of foxing. The colour of the plates still bright and vivid, with 48 hand coloured plates. pp. iv + 272. A handsome copy with stunning colour plates.
