Denys Watkins-Pitchford classic story of four gnomes who live peacefully on the banks of the Folly Brook. Winner of the 1942 Carnegie Medal. This is the First Edition Thus of 1946 with the colour plates rather than the black and white plates of the 1942 edition. The illustrated dust jacket has a nice and clean front cover with a little creasing long the top edge. The rear cover is very lightly discoloured while there is light creasing to the spine. Not price clipped. Underneath lie cloth boards with printed red titles within a decorative border to the front. The binding is in very good condition. Beautifully clean pages with no marks or foxing and illustrated with eight stunning colour plates. pp. 190. Overall a superb copy.
