First Edition in book form with engraved frontispiece and title page by H.K. Browne and a further 38 plates throughout. Contemporary binding in half burgundy leather with burgundy cloth sides. Five raised bands and black title band to the spine. The leather is a little rubbed and worn with fading to the spine. The text block remains quite firm despite a little cracking to the internal hinge. A small plain label has been firmly pasted onto the front free endpaper with the name of the book and date written in pencil. The pages are generally clean despite the odd page having significent foxing/toning, especially to the prelims. Errata page at xv. pp. xiv + 624. Overall a good copy.
