Edition: Limited
Illustrated By: Alan E. Cober
Published By: Franklin Library
This lovely hardback limited edition Franklin Library copy of Albert Camus' "Exile and the Kingdom", translated by Justin O'Brien, is beautifully bound in black leather. The book is opulently decorated, with all-edge gilt, as well as gilt decorations, lettering, and illustrations on the cover and spine. This impeccable presentation continues inside the book, which has lovely grey silk endpapers, a satin ribbon page marker, and a playful use of blue and black ink for chapter titles and other interior decorations. Alan E. Cober's imaginative black ink illustrations add a sombre feel, and help to ground the story and its characters in Camus' overarching theme of human loneliness, and feeling isolated in one's own society. This book has 160 pages of text, and apart from some minor fading to the silk endpapers, the book's interior is in near perfect condition, and it appears unread. This book is looking for a new home, and would be a lovely gift for any collectors of Franklin Library's limited edition works, for any students of philosophy, or any fans of Albert Camus.
