This lovely hardback limited edition Franklin Library copy of John O'Hara's "Sermons and Soda-Water" is bound in a beautiful olive green leather. The book is opulently decorated with all-edge gilt, as well as gilt lettering, decorations, and illustrations to the cover and spine. This impeccable presentation continues inside the book, which has lovely green silk endpapers, a satin ribbon page marker, and a playful use of green and black ink for chapter titles and other interior decorations. Barbara Fox's imaginative black ink illustrations add a sense of whimsy, and help to ground the stories and their characters, as one catches a glimpse into John O'Hara's vision of 1920s/30s Pennsylvania. "Sermons and Soda-Water" contains the following novellas: The Girl on the Baggage Truck, Imagine Kissing Pete, and We're Friends Again. This book has 244 pages of text, and apart from some minor fading to the silk endpapers, the book is in near perfect condition, and its pages appear unread.
